Wellington Place was buzzing with activity last Friday as the Yorkshire International Business Convention (YIBC) took pride of place on our grounds for the first time in the convention’s 15 year history.
A whole host of inspirational speakers took to the stage to share insights into their experiences in business. From Richard Branson’s right-hand man at Virgin, Will Whitehorn, to Olympic medallist Steve Cram, and retail expert Mary Portas.
Of course, the big news of the day was the arrival of the Dalai Lama, who was greeted by the beautiful voices of the young Opera North choir. The Dalai Lama went on to speak to delegates about how to be ethical in business.
We were pleased to welcome businesses from across Leeds and Yorkshire, including Irwin Mitchel, EasyJet, Leeds City College, Sheffield Hallam University and Leeds Metropolitan University, all of who exhibited at the convention.
Rick de Blaby, MEPC Chief Executive, said: “MEPC was very proud to host such a high calibre of speakers at this event. We are committed to supporting the business community in Leeds, and we felt that hosting the YIBC was a great way to put this into action.”
Our gallery of pictures from the event is now live. Click here for the best pictures from the day.
