Fun in the sun at the Wellington Place summer barbeque

Over 550 Wellington Place customers got away from their desks and basked in the sunshine, enjoying delicious food and great music supplied by local talent, Groove Anatomy.

Burgers, hot dogs, hog roast and tasty vegetarian paella were enjoyed, followed by free ice creams, and the Crowne Plaza hotel provided a delicious fresh fruit punch.

The energetic then had the opportunity to try their hand at zorbing by running through a custom-built course in a huge inflatable ball.

Dominique Simcox from MEPC said: “Our annual summer barbeque is always one of the highlights of the year as we get to say thank you to all the customers who help make Wellington Place such a great place to work.

“The weather was really kind to us this year with sunshine and blue skies all day helping encourage everyone to slip away from their desks and get involved.”

SkyFest brings the fun of the fair to Wellington Place

Wellington Place had all the fun of the fair last weekend when it played host to SkyFest, Sky’s annual family day for employees.

Sky staff from across Northern England came to Wellington Place with their friends and families to enjoy a day of entertainment and fun activities, from stage shows to children’s activities which included a petting zoo and circus acts.

Meanwhile, parts of the site were transformed into a family fairground, with favourites such as a giant ferris wheel, teacups and a toy set-themed carousel to keep the younger guests entertained, while those who like a bit more adrenalin from their rides could make the most of The Freakout.

As the sun started to go down, it was the turn of DJs including Nick Grimshaw and local lads The Pigeon Detectives, to entertain the crowds.

Rick de Blaby, MEPC Chief Executive, said: "Sky are the sort of organisation that bring creativity, fun and participation to their environments, which fulfils our aspirations to transcend workplaces into real places and communities that people enjoy; and those guys certainly know how to enjoy themselves!"
