Coming Soon! New Offices To Let for Leeds

Planning consent for Wellington Place - New headquarters office building for Leeds

Designed by Fielden Clegg Bradley Architects, 7 Wellington Place will be situated fronting Whitehall Road in the heart of Leeds’ West End and can accommodate 160,000 sq ft of Grade A commercial office space along with 8,000 sq ft of ground floor retail space, likely to be restaurant / cafe use.

The planning consent includes the installation of Tower Square, a very large area of high-quality public realm around the Grade II Listed Lifting Tower, and the early creation of the Whitehall Road Boulevard, being the “Place Making” design work of Martha Schwartz architects.

MEPC appoints Jones Lang LaSalle as national agent for Leeds development

Jones Lang LaSalle's Office Agency teams based in Leeds and London will work alongside DTZ to promote the development to potential occupiers across the UK.

Wellington Central Can Contain Itself

What do you get when you mix reused shipping containers from China, together with a design concept from a world-renowned architect?

For MEPC the end product is Wellington Central, a two storey, 5,200 sq ft sustainable development office at the heart of Wellington Place. It includes a design workshop that will be used by Leeds civic architect John Thorp.

In keeping with the company’s commitment to sustainable construction, Wellington Central has been built utilising used freight containers, shipped between the UK and China. Complementing the space is architecture and design from world-renowned Martha Schwartz, who has given the suite top class quality and artistic sophistication.

The suite will provide space for use by the Renaissance Leeds Partnership, an arrangement which has been facilitated through the West End Partnership. It will be used as a City Workshop for the Renaissance Leeds project.

Named in recognition of both its position on the site of the former Central Station and its central location within the mixed-use development, Wellington Central signals a major milestone in the progression of the scheme.

The aesthetic design adds to the environmentally friendly development and may play a key role in attracting professionals to not only visit, but use the new venue for events. The marketing suite will also act as the new regional office for MEPC in Leeds while construction of the development continues.

Rick de Blaby, chief executive of MEPC, said: “The opening of the marketing suite is extremely significant for us on a number of levels, not least because it allows us to make a permanent base from which to promote Wellington Place and all that it has to offer.

“Furthermore, Wellington Central is the new location for Renaissance Leeds Partnership’s City Workshop, led by John Thorp. It will provide an opportunity for investors, the community and stakeholders to work together to promote the sustainable development of Leeds.

“The versatile space has been designed and built to reflect everything that MEPC stands for and is an exciting step in the development.” Business leaders are also invited to come and see the space for themselves.

Plans for Wellington Place are unveiled

Plans have been formalised and site preparation has now begun for Wellington Place, a major new mixed use, urban development that is set to transform the west end of Leeds city centre. Following receipt of a resolution to grant outline planning consent for a 2.6 million sq ft scheme earlier this year leading sustainable business communities' developer MEPC has announced that it is forging ahead with a masterplan so significant that it is expected to achieve an investment value close to £1 billion when completed. Strategically located between Wellington Street and Whitehall Road, Wellington Place is engaging some of the worlds most recognised planners and designers to deliver a truly remarkable new 22 acre destination that aims to maximise public flow and user interaction with a range of stunning features. Up to 700 new residential apartments will be mixed with a 1,755,000 sq ft provision for Grade A offices, 118,000 sq ft of retail and leisure accommodation and 256,000 sq ft for a hotel and cultural space
